这不是咱们哲学世界里的概念偷换,而是作为一个设计师,你会经常的反复的在这两个世界中转换,一边是想象出的一种存在方式,一边是物质世界的转头瓦片混凝土钢。。。至少在中国,它们两者从未被分开。

正如汉唐时期开始的“都料”一职,就与今天的设计师很是接近。都是凭借专业能力,先想象形式的存在,再寻求物质支撑,最终监督实现。看上去好像又是幻想家,又是科学家,还是监工。有点像那个不想当厨子的裁缝不是好司机。

早年的时候参加各种设计竞赛,而且还是那种永远都不会建成的竞赛。看上去是竞赛方在忽悠人,巧的是我也乐于被忽悠着。可能因为大家想要的不同,竞赛方咱不议,我想要的很清楚,其一,刚进入设计界,我需要点练手的题目。过程中看看自己的想象力到底有多大力量,也顺便看看别人的。其二,那时候的竞赛是想象能力(概念)远远大于物质(材料)的。这正好适合这个半路出家,自学成才,不是建筑或者设计科班出身的我。其三,我也确实没什么事,就搂草打了这些兔子。现在看来,那段时间对现在的我收益颇深。为而后的“物质(材料)时间”做了很多基础。正如哲学里,先有精神世界再生物质世界。

再往后的一段时间,因为有了若干各种各样的项目,虽类型不同,但都要去实现。也就顺理成章的对物质的应用做了些不得不做的试验和研究。比如传统木材,竹材,金属,混凝土,甚至纸。也就对各种材料的特性和极限有了很个人化的理解,就像有了枪,有了子弹,但能不能就打中靶子就全靠能力了,枪是想象力,子弹是物质,这能力应该就是美学认知吧。

言而总之,只有天马行空的想象力或科学家般的研究能力,是出不了好设计的,结合起来,才能打通任督二脉,最终为终极业主“人”所服务。

About imagination and matter

It was not an exchange in philosophy that you would always exchange from material world to the immaterial world as a designer,an imagination of existence on one hand and the other hand was tiles,concrete,steel in the material world...At least in China,they never be separated.

Designer is similar with the “Duliao” of HAN-TANG Dynasty.Both of them imagine the existence of the form in the first place and then seek material support by virtue of professional competence,and then achieved the ultimate.They look like visionaries,scientists or supervision.It was a bit like a tailor which don’t want to be a chef was not a good driver as well.

I participated in kinds of design competition that always came to naught in early years.It looks like the competition makes a fool of us,but I was also happy to fool with.That might be what we need is different. My goal is clear,first,I need some subjects to practice as an new artist.I want to figue out how much imagination do I have and to have a look of others incidentally.Second,the competition was more conceptual than material .It was appropriate for me which learned by myself,I was the declaration of professional architect.Third,I was sitting around twiddling my thumbs.It now seems a good experience for me ,made a base for “Material time”.Such as material world is known earlier than spiritual world.

After a period of time,I have to do a variety test and research because of although there is different types of subjects we need to achieve that.For example,traditional wood,bamboo,metal,concrete,and even paper. So I make a very personal sense to the features and limitations of various kinds of the materials,just like you will not know whether you can hit in the target even with a gun and bullets.The gun is like imagination,the bullet is like material,this ability might called aesthetic cognition.

In a word,unconstrained imagination and professional research ability should not be separated, mix together,then we got good design and service the ultimate ultimately.
